Chaffinch and Wood Pigeon

After a week off work I have disappointingly little walking to show for it. I have been regularly entertained by birds in the garden. A pair of bullfinches on our feeders eluded the camera because the autofocus didn’t work properly (due to low batteries). Similarly, blackbirds feasting on bits of apple I had put out, whilst seemingly quite happy to be watched from close range, soon made themselves scare when I pointed a camera in their direction (some sort of benefit fraud?).

I did catch a female chaffinch in the bird bath just beyond the study window…

She bathed vigoursly, and often hopped in and out of the water…

A more relaxed visitor…

…this wood pigeon often visits our feeders to take advantage of the seeds on offer.
