Plantar Fasciitis

Matthew Bennett left this comment:

Hi Mark I have put a video together on the merits of insoles to help foot, knee or hip pain which your readers may find helpful.

Having suffered from plantar fasciitis last year I found myself quite tempted to try Superfeet. (Do you have shares Matthew?)

You can find this video on Youtube here.

  1. I’ve used Superfeet for a few years now after seeing a very convincing demonstration in a Craigdon Mountain Sports shop. The demonstration involved the same skeletal model as seen in the video and after trying them in the shop I bought into them. They do take a bit of getting used to and indeed they were a little uncomfortable for a couple of days as my arch was not used to being supported so well, but wouldn’t be without them now.
When switching to trail runners, I took advice from running forums against advice from the outdoor blogs where everyone was recommending Innov-8’s, and bought myself a pair of Montrails which also comes with a similar supportive footbed.

  2. Couldn’t get away with Superfeet or Sorbothane’s. Found my solution a few years ago and have never looked back. Trekmates Supershock Gel insole with a Brasher Green insole ontop, either the 5mm standard or if your boot is a tighter fit use a 2.5mm insole (usually a special order). The combined price is still less than £20. I use this combo in all my walking boots and have been pain free since.

Hi David, Paul, Gordon – I’m afraid my response to foot pain was to buy insoles for my everyday shoes, but to do nothing about my walking boots. Doh! I can see I’m going to have to look in to this more carefully.
