And then, towards the end of April, a funny thing happened. It rained. Outrageous! We’re just not used to that here in Sunny Silverdale.

Not that it rained much. And Woodwell pond, which had been in danger of drying out, needed it. As did all the other flora and fauna, no doubt.

Early purple orchid.

The orchids on the lots looked good after a wash and brush up.

And another.

Green-winged orchid.

Horseshoe vetch above the Cove.

Much as I’m enjoying the sunshine, everything is looking more than a bit scorched and we could do with some more of that rain. Preferably overnight! (Not that I’m greedy or anything).

  1. You got your wish down here last night. Not exactly a downpour but at least its dropped the temps a bit. Nice bit of swing there, trying to remember the track that covered it in a dance style.

Yes – we got some too, last night and this morning.
There’s a cover. Right – that’s me heading down another rabbit hole!

      1. I think it was extensively sampled rather than a cover. I can hear it in my head but I can’t for the life of me remember what the actual track was called

            1. Yeah, remix is the right word rather than cover or sample. The original version is by Sonny and Cher, the Buddy Rich version is a cover. I remember Buddy Rich being on The Muppets and doing a drum battle with Animal 🙂

  2. We’ve had a fair bit of rain today, a bit early in the morning and then a fair bit more this afternoon. Still looks threatening now. Glad its rained though, very much needed

We had it last night and this morning. Turned lovely this evening – just when I was out for my walk!
