By the Sunday of the music festival weekend, we are usually ready for a change and a walk. Last year was no exception, so we opted for the classic local route, around the coast to Arnside and back via the Knot. (Except for UF who will have made one of his standard lame excuses around playing snap or utilising his season ticket at Man City, or having a bone in his leg).
It’s always a good walk, but throw in some clear blue skies, some sunshine and a few old friends and you can’t go wrong.
I keep saying that I should join the sailing club at Arnside, but then I never get around to it. But I really should. It must have been pretty windy that day, some of these yachtsmen are really leaning out to counteract their boats heeling.
I suppose we probably purchased pasties or the like for a lunch in Arnside, we usually do.
As usual, I was a bit rubbish at taking any team photos. I did get this one on the last leg of the walk which makes TBH look preposterously tall. J meanwhile seems to be taking extra special care over where she is placing her feet.
Anyway, after that, all back to ours for tea. Another fab weekend.
Looks like a lovely day.
Yes. We do have them. Today was lovely too. So that’s it until September!
My post today features a remark from my mother about how the climate in Peterborough suited her more than the one in Lancashire. 😉
But does Peterborough have…..erm, I’ll get back to you!
Beautiful. That estuary looks appealing.
The walk along the Kent estuary into Arnside is terrific. Actually, the Kent is all good to walk. Someday I’m going to do it all in one trip.
Hopefully I’ll be up that way soon.
Always lovely to see the views across the estuary on your walks, have to say despite living where I do I have no interest at all in anything boat or sea based. No yachts, SUPs, sea kayaks or dinghies for me. I’ll walk for days around the coast looking at the sea but I get nothing from heading out on it
Its a good job we’re all different! My dad was a keen dinghy sailor and I suppose I got the bug from him. Thinking about it, we had inflatable canoes and various boats on our holidays too. So that’s my excuse!
I always love this walk, but I don’t recall seeing the prom before.
Such a beautiful heart sculpture.
The heart is quite huge, I don’t know if you can tell from the photos? I really should make an effort to find out who made it.
I think for lunch we snagged a table at a nice cafe and soup and Cheese Scone, a new classic favourite of mine. Interestingly until I read the post I’d completely forgotten about what we did on the Sunday, or that it was a stunning day
Soup and scone! They do it at the Bob Inn at New Barns too – the perfect lunch. I keep resolving to make Cheese Scones, B and S are both very keen.
Trouble with Scones is it’s only me who really likes them and they need to be eaten fresh and warm. Not sure even my appetite could eat a whole batch to myself
Would they freeze? Or the mixture?
Tried both, doesn’t work
