I’ve seen a few, Peacocks, Brimstones and Commas. A neighbour reported Orange-Tips in his garden, but I haven’t seen any yet.

  1. Sunny Morecambe Bay! I’ve not been up there for a while – mainly as they’ve discontinued the direct train from Wigan and I haven’t any confidence in the Avanti first leg with a short change at Lancaster.
But I’ve never seen that Pepperpot so I’ll have to risk it soon

Maybe not for a little while – there are no trains at present, after a derailment further round the coast. The replacement bus service is a bit hit and miss – our youngest was kidnapped by one and dumped in Grange – the driver decided to bypass Silverdale and Arnside stations without announcing that fact.

      1. Ah, yes, I rember reading something about the derailment. There’s been some water damage to an embankmnent on the Grange side. Disgraceful stranding your offspring – it would have been a long way round for you to collect them. “Rail replacement bus” – three words guaranteed to make your heart sink.

He eventually got a bus back the other way because it is a very long drive. If they ever get around to adding the mooted footbridge to the viaduct he would be able to walk.

  2. Saw an orange tip (see, I’m getting the hang of this naming thing) on my local walk earlier in the week. The last few days of mildly better weather seems to have brought out the local insect life a bit. And some of the mud has dried out (still lots of nasty stuff left though)

We have had some nice days to be fair, although the winds have been in the north or east, so it has been very cool. Got tanned (some might say burned!) yesterday.
